The Chart of the Ages is a representation of the plan of God. It is written out in chart form to make the entire matter easier to understand. At first that might seem to be a contradiction, becuase the Chart looks rather complicated when you see it for the first time. But it isn’t so hard once you understand the basic elements.
Going from left to right we have represented the passage of time.
Going from top to bottom we have represented the different planes or dimensions of existence. In other words, at the bottom (then going upwards) is imperfect human, then perfect human, then angelic beings, then immortal spirits, and of course, God.
The Scriptures teach us that God has dealt with mankind in what we call Dispensations. In other words, God has dealth differently with different classes of humanity at different times in history. Then, within those dispensations are Ages. These Ages qualify or define the dispensations in finer terms, according to the Scriptures.
During these Ages, different things happen to different people. The Bible shows us God has separated mankind into different groups, such as unbelievers, faithful Jews, unfaithful Jews, faithful Christians, unfaithful Christians, etc.
All of these groups of people are represented in the Chart by a Pyramid, of varying sizes, either with a topstone, or without. We choose the symbol of a pyramid because the Bible refers to the pyramid shape often. A pyramid without a topstone represents incompleteness, or imperfection to one degree or another.
It has also been discovered that the ancient Jewish Tabernacle built by Moses corresponds with the different planes of being. Therefore, it is added to the right side to help show this correspondency.
